I hope you've recovered from jetlag. It can be a beast. It's been a challenge for me and can't seem to get off of California time!Lisa C.https://www.blogger.com/profile/12987591066365440139noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2717561028680873935.post-10507110512631245782013-08-31T05:02:37.407+02:002013-08-31T05:02:37.407+02:00I am another reader taught to sail by my father. And Dad died of cancer (too young) thirty years ago. Watching the sailing in the Olympics brought back that wonderful sensation of flying across water. It definitely looked amazing!

I have only sailed on smaller sail boats but I always loved the wind through my hair and the sense of gliding on top of the water. A sense of peace & freedom - and also being one with nature!

It's funny - my dad taught me to sail too! Must be a father-daughter thing!

I'm sure your father was watching from above and enjoying the fact that you were all there! My father passed away almost 3 years ago, also from cancer-and when we do things as a family that we use to do with him or that he would have enjoyed - I get a sense he's there too - watching and enjoying along with us.

Good luck with La Rentree!American Mom in Bordeauxhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08510479682242727034noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2717561028680873935.post-8689657050442524462013-08-28T07:54:25.003+02:002013-08-28T07:54:25.003+02:00Wish we had been there to go with you - looks amaz...Wish we had been there to go with you - looks amazing. Although I would have loved just sitting in the sunshine and of course, the beer tent. But then again, I warmed to the Tour de France when I used to think there could be nothing more boring than watching people ride bikes.
Glad you got the chance to be there, it looked like a wonderful way to recall some lovely memories of your Dad. x x Kirsty @ Bonjour Quiltshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05177991521347107396noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2717561028680873935.post-67518135567052330262013-08-28T00:58:26.325+02:002013-08-28T00:58:26.325+02:00Hello Nicola
You're a girl after my own heart!...Hello Nicola
You're a girl after my own heart!
Although I wasn't brought up around boats - I married a dyed in the wool yachtie!
We are New Zealanders so we have been glued to the tv watching every second of racing!
Wonderful for us that Team New Zealand won the Louis Vuitton cup and are the challenger for the Americas Cup!

We would love to be in San Fran for the cup however, our daughter lives in France (like you) and I have just got back from a 6 week visit to see my adorable grandchildren!

We've recently bought an old classic launch which we are restoring - you will appreciate the $$ involved in that!

Thank you for the beautiful photos - the best one was your sweet little daughter climbing over the trampoline!
I hope she has the chance to learn to sail in France.
My daughter lives a long way from the coast and she misses all that hugely.

À bientôt to you too.
hugs
Shane
Shane Pollardhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06674612132049839026noreply@blogger.com
